Mallorca Walking

Beyond its reputation as a popular tourist destination, Mallorca offers a landscape of genuine peace and astounding natural beauty that is ideal for walkers. At DANA we offer guided walks into the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana which plunge dramatically down to the blue waters of the Mediterranean. Our guides will take you along coastal paths that lead to the traditional Mallorcan villages of Deia and Valldemosa were the terraced hillsides are covered with fertile groves of olives, figs and oranges.

Itineraries

Deia - Soller. 11.5Km (Grade 1)

The Cami de Son Castello was the original connecting route between the artisitc village of Deia and the orange valley town of Soller. The vibrant colours encountered on this walk will make it clear why this part of the world has attracted artists for so many years. We start by descending towards the coast along paths full of lush vegetation and then we gently climb back up to a path high above the Mediterranean Sea for our picnic lunch. Later we pass by interesting house called Ca'n Prohom which was used by the then Queen of Spain, Isabel II, for a visit to Mallorca in the year 1888. A little later your DANA guide will guide you deep into Soller's valley where we will quench our thirst with some fresh local orange juice

Biniaraix - Orient. 13Km (Grade 3)

This walk involves a fair amount of ascent and is plesantly challenging as it leads us right across the Tramuntana range (the highest point of Mallorca). But, some great views are had! As we head up along part of the GR221 we pass the Torrent d'Almedra on our way to the col before descending to Orient's hidden and lush valley - home to some of the best apples and cherries on the island.

Menorca Walking

During your stay, you will be exploring the The South Coast of the Menorca where you will find sandy beaches stretching for miles as well as intimate forst trails. One of our starting points will the long sandy beaches of Son Bou and we will move along the coast towards the quiet and serenc beach of Trebaluger. Guests will also walk along trails on the more rugged North Coast which has some beautiful virgin sandy beaches and old archeological sites to visit. Along this route we will visit the area of Cavalleria the wonderful nature reserve of La Vall, which is where the farmhouse in Menorca is located. DANA is fortunate to have access to some wonderful properties where the walking sommences right on your doorstep.

During your week you will also visit the two main towns on the island; Ciutadella, the beautiful historic harbour town and the capital, Mahon. There wil also be the chance of sampling some of the local Menorquin food as several of the lunches will be had in some of the best local restaurants on the isalnd.
